ancient “portus veneris”, was erected upon a rocky promontory at one end of the gulf of la spezia. it is situated near the city centre and the cinqueterre and is in front of lerici and the three islands of palmaria, tino and tinetto overlooking a very beautiful sea; and taking into account its beauty, art, culture and nature, it is considered one of the most unique places in the world.
a place where the view takes you up and down the “capitoli” – the steep steps that lead to the sea – to quietly admire the panorama which filters through the loggia of st. peter’s church. le bocche is located in calata doria, the liveliest part of portovenere where the built-up area ends; it is just in front of the small harbour near the multi-coloured tower houses, typical of the liguria region. |
